If you’re a fan of 3D indie films that reinvent older movies, then you’ll love the newest installation in the Inide community… Frankenstein VS The Wolfman!
The film’s 3D creator took the words right out of our mouths so we thought it best to leave his thoughts on this cute short film.
The film was produced over a period of four years using off-the-shelf software, during which time I animated primarily on weekends and let my mid-2000s-era PC render throughout the week. Over 40 minutes of footage was ultimately produced, because each shot had to be rendered twice–once for each eye. I’ve been a rabid aficionado of 3D films since I saw JAWS 3D and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 3 from the 80s ,and had always wanted to make something in that format; this seemed a good fit. The idea behind the movie was actually inspired by Jeunet & Caro’s THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN believe it or not. For some reason, probably because I loved the Universal monsters and horror movies in general as a kid, the strongman in that film read to me as a Frankenstein’s monster-type character. It felt natural to pit him against the Wolfman, and the concept took shape.
We hope you enjoy the film as much as we did.
