Reportedly, 3D movies have been killing it in the second quarter of 2013.

Yeah, the movies that were released this year were pretty good, but it also cost us more (as a nation) to see them. One source says that the national ticket price rose 3.2 percent from the first quarter of 2013 to the second.

The figures are odd. We who dwell in cities all know that our IMAX tickets are upwards of $15 dollars a pop. So, it is kind of a wonder to hear that the national ticket average (as revealed by the National Association of Theatre Owners) is only $8.38 for 3D.

But the big kicker is this. Last year 3D movies raked in about $745 million dollars. If we were to guess the number was the same or less in 2013, we would be way off. 3D movies currently have earned $1.29 billion dollars in 2013.

Still believe 3D is dead?
