The IBC Broadcaster’s Conference was held in Amsterdam a couple weeks back, and the big talk was about moving towards 4K.

Otherwise known as Ultra HD (UHD), the latest and greatest in TV technology is still über-expensive for the consumer, but it sounds like broadcasters like the technology. And according to our source, the broadcasting industry sees money in 4K.

Not only that, but the industry players that remain the old, staunch networks hinted that 4K could give them an advantage over internet-based networks such as Netflix who began releasing original series like House of Cards just this year.

Moreover, it sounds like it’s easier for broadcasters to create UHD content than 3D content. Fifty-three thousand people were in attendance at this year’s IBC, a record breaking figure.
