Traveling ’round the world to give us fresh new takes on 3D documentaries, our good friend Al 3DGuy has something new and exciting for us!
The Trails of a Legend Ponies race ahead!
The first 3D documentary in Thailand—- Trails of a Legend, provides a fascinating insight into the migratory patterns of animals and people. At the heart of the story are the Ponies of Lampang. Located in Thailand’s exotic northern Chiang Mai district, Lampang is home to several hundred working ponies. Recent DNA research has found that the ponies are related to the steeds from Mongolia, as did most Thai people from the Altai Mountains over a thousand years ago.
“I realized that this is a wonderful story that people need to hear about,” Al Caudullo stated in an interview with MCOT News (Channel 9 television station in Thailand). Most Thais know that the ponies of Lampang are famous for pulling tourists around the northern city in old-fashioned carriages but there’s something far more significant fact about these native Thai ponies that locals should be aware and be proud of. Trails of a Legend 3D reveals this.
The Thai version of the documentary had a hometown premiere last month at Ban Saonak, Lampang, Thailand in classic outdoor nang klang-plang fashion, with 150 people in attendance.
Weeks after, the 3D documentary film was featured on a national newspaper, The Nation. There, Al Caudullo said “We are looking at global distribution. I attended the recent National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas and spoke about the film and discussed possibilities with many distributors.”
But the film’s race, as successful as it may seem, is still on its halfway. A million thanks to Mr. Albert Chandler and family for their generous support during the production of the film but currently, the project is in need of sponsors to further its international marketing efforts. “Funding is something that we are definitely looking for,” Al Caudullo says in an interview at MCOT News. “Now, in order to bring the project to the Thai people, we need help with marketing. We need help to be able to show this movie all over Thailand,” he continues.
Another remarkable statement from Al Caudullo, “The Thai people should take enormous pride from the fact that these ponies are their own. These are true Thai ponies.” Indeed, more people need to find out about this.
“We need Thai companies who are willing to step out and say ‘we are proud of these ponies’,” he stated.
