Gatsby Movie Raises Book Sales

The Great Gatsby in 3D, a new film by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, Australia) will be released on May 10 after opening the Cannes Film Festival this year.

However, the hype and advertising has boosted book sales as well. The novel The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, has been called the Great American Novel even though it is said to have sold few copies when it was released in 1925.

With the release of the film, the novel currently tops the Amazon bestseller list, with 125,000 copies already sold this year and 350,000 more featuring Leonardo DiCaprio on the cover said to come. It’s a short read. But fair warning, movies are rarely as good as the book.
