Consumers planning to buy a new TV in 2013 say they want more Internet and 3D in a recent survey by leading provider of diverse global market and economic information, IHS.
Among the folks planning to buy a new TV in the 12 months following the survey, almost 20 percent plan to buy a 3D TV. This is up from seven percent in the survey covering the previous 12 months.
The folks who’ve stated they plan on purchasing a new TV with internet capability, otherwise known as smart TVs, have almost doubled in the last year. More than thirty percent of people surveyed want a smart TV. That number is up from 18 percent for 2012.
The main drive for purchasing a new TV in 2013 is the size, and that sentiment hasn’t changed much in the past year. It’s actually dropped about two percent. Finally, consideration of the price of the TV has strikingly doubled, where about 50 percent of the participants stated that was also a big factor.
