The director of consumer insights at Zpryme, Alberto Perilla-Gayle, announced that, “3D TV presents a giant leap forward both in terms of technology and the user experience. Consumers are well aware of this and are excited by the prospect of enhanced cinematic immersion and gaming interaction. The naysayers are missing the point here. Adoption will be driven by big ticket content and media events — think broadcast sports, movie night, gaming, and so on. If the success of Avatar confirms anything, it’s that consumers are happy to overlook the perceived shortcomings of 3D ‘done right.”
Zpryme analyzed 744 technological consumers messages that were posted across 47 various sources, that reach over 14 million consumers. The results showed a rich demographic spectrum which comprised of 61% males. 68% were aged 18 to 54 with 39% of them earning $75,000+.
On a whole, American consumers are extremely impressed with the 3D displays enhanced viewing experience and next generation technology. The majority of consumers commented that 3D technology is long overdue and is seen as revolutionary.
Whereas a minority of people are worried that 3DTV content is only a gimmick and that the reality of wearing 3D viewing glasses for a prolonged amount of time will lead to severe headaches. Other people simply stated that the technology is just ‘geeky’ and they feel forced in to upgrading their displays, even though they have only just bought in to HD technology.
