Our guess is don’t get too excited. Unless of course you’re one of the few lucky ones who’ve acquired a 4K TV by now.

Maybe that sounds pessimistic. But it’s actually a move in the right direction if in fact 4K TVs are to succeed in the coming years. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told an audience at the Copenhagen Future of TV Conference in May that his company plans on making this a reality.

However, Hastings and Netflix has not made an official statement yet about just when in 2014 that 4K streaming on Netflix will be made available, nor have we gotten word on the cost. Another problem is that the 4K streaming will require at least a 15 megabit internet connection. And Hastings added that a 50 megabit connection is ideal for the service.

It would be nice if Netflix would start offering 3D streaming and 3D Blu-rays to more customers in the near future, as well. Just a thought.
