LG beats everyone to the punch, again. Monday, they became the first company to ship 100 55-inch OLEDs (at $10K dollars a pop) to wealthy buyers in South Korea.
Even though it’s basically been settled that 4K TVs dominated 3D TV and OLED at this year’s CES, perhaps it would’ve been a stretch to assume that OLED might never happen.
Thing is, unlike most other companies, LG had an enormous, beautiful OLED display on their showroom floor at CES. These ultra-slim OLED TVs boast a 100,000,000: 1 contrast ratio and a response time 1,000 times faster than LCD. It is said that Samsung should be next in line to release their OLEDs.
