The latest from Samsung are their curved OLED TVs with active 3D technology, and they are being shipped to the U.S. this week.
Samsung is hot on the heels of the curved OLED from LG, which was released in the U.S. at the beginning of August. The difference is the price and the Multi View option.
While the LG curved OLEDs are coming in at a steep price point of $15,000 dollars, the Samsung version will come in at $9,000. The LG models feature passive 3D technology, but the Samsung Multi View feature requires that the TV feature active 3D technology.
With Multi View, two people can watch different programs simultaneously with the active glasses made with built-in headphones. We got to test this mode out at CES and it works remarkably well. The only weird thing is that you’ll have to get two satellite or cable boxes hooked up to the same TV to take advantage.
But as CNET points out, if you can afford these TVs, you can afford to get that whole cable box thing rigged up correctly as well.
