UK-based ViewPoint-3D says it has developed a new type of AV software for content creation, presentations, visualizations, digital signage, 3D without glasses, and much more. Now, it is seeking input from the creative community to help advance the capabilities of this 3D animation tool.
To help facilitate the feedback, the company is offering a fully functional copy of ViewPoint-3D that is now completely free to download until the end of the year. The installation zip file is very large so you will need to contact the company via email at email@example.com, to get the FTP and installation details.
ViewPoint-3D is software that allows users to instantly produce digital signage presentations with live-data, 3D content, images and videos with studio-style animations at resolutions up to FQHD (3840 x 2160) using standard GPU technology.
Data, text, images and video within the 3D scene content can be updated without the need for re-editing.
There is also a hardware-based media player called the ePC 3D Media Box, which can drive up to 8 screens of 4K resolution with ViewPoint-3D presentations including glasses-free 3D and interactive Kiosk applications.
According to Robin Colclough, FRSA, Technical Director at ViewPoint-3D, “Basically what we have today is a finished software, where we can add an endless variety of animations allowing developers fly different paths through a 3D dimensional world. There are animations like Fly circle, Fly Straight, Ping-Pong, or Fly path, where you use Waypoint markers to plot a path, making flythrough´s so easy that anyone can create them.”
The software uses the Philips Declispe 3D format, which consists of four elements: 2D foreground and background images and depth maps of the foreground and background. This allows full support of animated objects, allowing models to walk, talk with lip-sync, bend over and pick up objects, face camera and more. This also means the content will play on 2D+Depth based multi-view glasses-free monitors such as the ones from Dimenco.
Using ViewPoint-3D you can create complex scenes, adding lights, shadows, but also fog, which if used lightly gives a great 3D effect on 2D screens.
“We are building a massive library of stunningly detailed 3D objects, anything and everything, and are adding more animations, plus voice controlled animation,” explained Colclough. For example, you can apparently tell Actor “Jane” to walk center stage, face camera, speak lines 1 through 13, pause, smile walk off stage. That’s pretty cool.
